SNAP Coalition
The SNAP coalition is a subgroup of the New Hampshire Food Access Coalition that meets to address the low SNAP enrollment in NH.
The coalition meets monthly. Contact the coordinator, Tiffany (Dodier) Brewster, directly at tbrewster@nhhungersolutions.org to be added to the email list.
The primary goal of the SNAP Coalition is to increase SNAP participation in NH. It plans to accomplish this goal through a number of activities which may include:
- Leveraging federal dollars to increase SNAP participation by ensuring that a SNAP Outreach Plan is filed with the USDA Food and Nutrition Service. The outreach plan will:
- Increase awareness of SNAP eligibility requirements
- Assist in the application process
- Include and elevate the voices of SNAP clients in outreach program decision-making processes
- Reduce stigma
- Increasing collaboration with state agencies and stakeholders working to increase SNAP participation
- Minimizing SNAP enrollment barriers
- Coordinating data collection, and sharing to make sure eligible recipients can access the program and making the program more efficient
- Increasing coordination among social services providers
- Bolstering programs that develop a strong local food system
- Expanding SNAP coalition membership
New Hampshire Hunger Solutions supports existing food coalitions and is helping to build new ones in every region of our state.
