  • Only 40% of people over 60 who qualify for SNAP are enrolled
  • An estimated 17,000 children were eligible for SNAP in 2019 but unenrolled
  • SNAP benefits are $2.38 per meal, and that doesn't cover the cost of a meal in any county in NH

Solution

  • We need to close the gap between who is eligible and who is enrolled. That means:
  • Expand outreach and education efforts to improve understanding of eligibility
  • Reduce administrative and application barriers
  • Offer education on how to shop with SNAP and use double dollar programs
  • Solve language and transportation barriers

  • Every SNAP $1 spent generates at least $1.54 in local economic activity
