Affordable Family Activities
Here is a list of inexpensive events, activities, and attractions you can obtain/make more affordable by showing your EBT/WIC or Medicaid card.
Children’s Museum of NH - Dover, NH
The Children's Museum of New Hampshire offers $3 per person admission to those who show an EBT or WIC card and a valid ID to their front desk. This discount is valid for up to two adults (the EBT/WIC cardholder, his/her spouse/partner or co-parent) and their dependent children. The Children's Museum of New Hampshire accepts valid EBT/WIC cards from NH and other states.
There’s also a brand-new playground outside the museum and a park along the river. The Noggin Factory is across the street, and depending on when you go, you’re likely to see the Mounted Police. The horses love to be patted!
Montshire Museum of Science - Norwich, VT
Show your NH State Insurance Card or EBT Card for a discounted admission of $3/person and/or a year pass for $20.
There are 3 floors of indoor fun, and in the summer/nice weather, there’s a huge outdoor “water park.” Bring swimsuits, sunscreen, towels (and sandals or water shoes – the pebbles can hurt).
Powder Mill Fish Hatchery - New Durham, NH
FREE, open daily 8AM-3:30PM
Bring quarters for the fish food machine and pack a picnic for a fun day. There are many fish hatcheries throughout NH, and they are all free!
Weather Discovery Center - North Conway, NH
Current information online says it’s FREE, thanks to generous donations.

Noble Pines Park in Somersworth, NH
McAuliffe-Shepherd Discovery Center - Concord, NH
Prices are $11.50 for adults, $8.50 for children (ages 3 to 12), $10.50 for seniors (age 62 and up), $10.50 for students (age 13 through college), and $8.50 per person in groups of 15 or more.
Planetarium Show Tickets are $5/person per show, added onto General Admission. Library passes may be available. Check your local library!
Boston Children's Museum - Boston, MA
Prices are $1/person on Sundays, 1:30PM-4:30PM, and EBT and WIC cardholders from all 50 states can show their EBT or WIC card to pay only $2/person cash admission. The discount applies for up to four people per card per visit. The Museum does not process EBT or WIC transactions; you must provide cash or card for admission payments.
Franklin Park Zoo - Boston Mass
Prices are $19.95 for adults, $17.95 for seniors (62+), $13.95 for children (ages 2-12), and children under 2 are free (yearly passes are cheaper as it gets you into the Stone Zoo too–also, a family pass for a year is $125 for adults and 4 children).
Massachusetts residents who are EBT or WIC holders get discounted rates of $4/person and $40 for a family pass.
Prices are $19.95 for adults, $17.95 for seniors (62+), $13.95 for children (ages 2-12), and children under 2 are free (yearly passes are cheaper as it gets you into the Franklin Park Zoo too–also, a family pass for a year is $125 for adults and 4 children).

VINS (Vermont Institute of Natural Science) - Quechee, VT
Show your EBT card for $5/person.
Attractions include wildlife (mostly large birds), activities, raptor/bird show, and walking trails.
Squam Lake Science Center - Holderness, NH
Show your EBT card/ID for $3/person. Library passes are also available. Check your local library!
They have events periodically, and all events are ‘by donation.’ Highland cows, horses, pigs, and poultry are available to pet and visit. Lots of fun and little to no cost!
Seacoast Science Center - Rye, NH
Prices are $10 for 13-adult, $8 for seniors (65+), $8 for Active Duty Military & Veterans (with ID), $5 for ages 3-12, and free for ages 3 and under (these prices DO NOT include admission to Odiorne State Park).
Library passes are available from libraries closer to the Seacoast and give you 50% off admission–adults for $5 and kids over age 3 for $2.50.
The Storyland Believe in Books Fun Run is every Labor Day. Sign-up/registration begins a month or so before Labor Day. Your child participates in a ‘race’ around a small section of the park, and everyone wins a t-shirt, medal, and a day pass (to be used that day) to Storyland! Enjoy the adventure for only the cost of your own (parent) ticket!
Maine Wildlife Park - Gray, ME
Prices are $10 for adults (13-59), $7.50 for seniors (60+), $7.50 for children (4-12), and free for children ages 3 and under. Groups of 15+ cost $3.50 per person, and a yearly pass for a family of six is $120.
Bring quarters because there are numerous areas around the park where you can feed the animals! Library passes are available, so check your local library!
Great Bay Discovery Campus - Greenland, NH
Free to visit! Great Bay itself has numerous different areas to explore.
Clark’s Bears (formerly Clark’s Trading Post) - Lincoln, NH
Prices are $29/person in advance or $33/person the day of admission, which includes most everything on the grounds (some things are a separate cost).
FREE! Fun little hike, easy to explore, good place for a picnic. Historical and an impressively HUGE boulder. Such an enjoyable visit!
FREE! Gorgeous spot to enjoy knee/hip-deep water, a beautiful waterfall, and hiking trails. Great place for a quick dip or a picnic and a day visit. It fills up fast on really nice days.
Franconia Notch State Park - Franconia/Lincoln, NH
The Basin and other areas around Franconia Notch are free to explore. Fun to picnic and relax on a nice day!
