Problem

NH missed providing meals to 7,902 students who normally receive free school meals and missed out on $689,717 federal dollars.

Solution

Increase participation in summer meals, provide more summer meals sites, and improve awareness of summer meals in the state.

Impact

NH feeds 7,900 more kids ages 0-18 through the summer. Children are healthier. NH brings in over $680,000 into its economy. 

What is the Summer Food Service Program?

The New Hampshire Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a federally assisted meal program that provides free, nutritious meals and snacks to help children in low-income areas get the nutrition they need throughout the summer months when they are out of school.

Sponsors provide free meals to a group of children at a central site, such as a school, park, low-income housing complex, community center, or camp.
